Explore broadly. Refine deliberately.

I use Claude Design, Google Stitch, and Paper to explore directions and accelerate the early design process. But there’s a point where more AI iterations stop bringing the work closer to the goal. Knowing when to change direction, what to keep, and what needs rethinking takes design judgment. I finalize every design in Figma, obsessing over details and considering user needs, product goals, and constraints. AI can generate options - I set the direction.

Claude Code

Make it work.

I build coded prototypes and make direct frontend contributions—from bug fixes and UI enhancements to new design system components. Working in code lets me test behavior and carry design intent into implementation.

Connect the dots.

I use ChatGPT and Claude to work through the context behind a design problem: how a technology works, how other products approach it, and which market trends might matter. I can follow a question deeper or work through an unfamiliar concept until I can reason about the tradeoffs myself. That understanding helps me have more useful conversations with engineers and product partners. I check consequential claims against original sources.

Keep testing what’s possible.

I regularly evaluate new tools and features. My holy grail: canvas and code fully in sync, with edits reflected on both sides. I like how close pen.dev gets, though its design features are still too basic for my day-to-day needs. I keep reassessing as the tools evolve.
